Who needs this training?

All care staff working within the Care Industry.

 

This training is a mandatory requirement for all care staff. This training provides insights and understanding in working with people who experience either learning disabilities, mental health or dementia. It supports staff in providing the appropriate care and assistance to the individual and their families. The course uses the principles of person-centred care and is taught utilising anonymised case studies and requires a high level of learner participation. CPD Accredited.

 

Learning Outcomes

    • Understand the difference between functional mental illness, learning disabilities and
      dementia.
    • Recognise the different conditions associated with mental illness, dementia and learning disability.
    • Be aware of the healthcare needs of people living with mental illness, dementia or a
      learning disability.
    • Recognise the impact our behaviours have on service users care and comfort.
    • Identify the adjustments which may be necessary in delivering person-centred care.
    • Be aware of the legal frameworks, policy and guidelines relating to the treatment and
      care of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities.
