Who needs this training?

All care staff working within the Care Industry.

 

Why is this training required?

This training is described by Jersey Care Commission, (“JCC”), in their care standards, as a
statutory and mandatory training requirement for staff working within the care industry.

 

Learning Outcomes

    • Understand the difference between functional mental illness, learning disabilities and
      dementia.
    • Recognise the different conditions associated with mental illness, dementia and learning disability.
    • Be aware of the healthcare needs of people living with mental illness, dementia or a
      learning disability.
    • Recognise the impact our behaviours have on service users care and comfort.
    • Identify the adjustments which may be necessary in delivering person-centred care.
    • Be aware of the legal frameworks, policy and guidelines relating to the treatment and
      care of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities.
