Who needs this training?

All care staff need to be aware of the principles of the Capacity and Self-Determination Law, understand what a capacity assessment consists of and be aware of best interest decision making. This training is conversational and interactive and based on a case study which demonstrates the process of establishing if someone has capacity or not. Most importantly the training is specifically designed for Jersey legislation. CPD Accredited.

Learning Outcomes
    • To understand the five core principles that underpin the law and the way they affect how the law is understood and used in practice.
    • To be aware of the assessment of capacity and understand the best interest decisions process on behalf of a person who lacks capacity.
    • Understanding roles and responsibilities when providing care and treatment to a person who lacks capacity.
    • Being aware of what constitutes restraint when providing care to a person who lacks capacity.
