Why is this training required?
This training is described by Jersey Care Commission, (“JCC”), in their care standards, as a
statutory and mandatory training requirement for staff working within the care industry.
Learning Outcomes

- Understand the difference between functional mental illness, learning disabilities and
dementia.
- Recognise the different conditions associated with mental illness, dementia and learning disability.
- Be aware of the healthcare needs of people living with mental illness, dementia or a
learning disability.
- Recognise the impact our behaviours have on service users care and comfort.
- Identify the adjustments which may be necessary in delivering person-centred care.
- Be aware of the legal frameworks, policy and guidelines relating to the treatment and
care of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities.
