DESCRIPTION:Who needs this training?\nAnyone who may be at risk from exposure to airborne asbestos fibres in workplace buildings and structures during their normal day to day work. Particularly those involved in demolition\, refurbishment\, maintenance and allied trades. \n  \nWhy is this training required?\nTo comply with the training requirements of the Jersey Management of Exposure to Asbestos in Workplace Buildings and Structures Approved Code of Practice – ACoP 8 and ensure that anyone that might be exposed to asbestos fibres understand the risks and how these can be managed. \n  \nLearning Outcomes\n\n\n\nUnderstand the properties of asbestos and its effects on health.\nBe able to identify the types\, uses and likely occurrence in buildings and plant.\nBe aware of Jersey prosecutions involving exposure to asbestos fibres in air and identify where the companies failed under the health and safety legislation.\nKnow how to avoid the risks from asbestos.\nBe able to implement general procedures to deal with an emergency.

SUMMARY:Working at Height Awareness Training
DESCRIPTION:Who needs this training?\nAnyone managing\, carrying out or affected by work at height. This course does not cover the specialised skills required to carry out specific tasks\, these must be dealt with by other training. \n  \nWhy is this training required?\nFalls are the largest cause of accidental death in the construction industry. They account for 50% of all fatalities. Injuries can occur from falls of all heights and all working at height requires to be planned and managed. This means that for any work at height\, precautions are required to prevent or minimise the risk of injury from a fall. \n  \nLearning Outcomes\n\n\n\nUnderstand what is working at height and why it is important.\nRecognise the implications of falls from height to businesses and individuals.\nBe able to state the hierarchy of working at height and when it should be carried out.\nBe able to select the correct equipment for the task in hand.\nSpecify the issues in the correct use of equipment such as ladders\, mobile towers\, scaffolds\, MEWP’s\, harnesses etc.
