SUMMARY:Capacity and Self-Determination - Understanding the Law and Significant Restrictions of Liberty for Managers
DESCRIPTION:Within the Capacity and Self-Determination Law registered managers have legal duties to people within their care who lack the capacity to make decisions regarding their care and treatment.  \nThis course gives an overview of the principles of the Capacity and Self-Determination Law\, capacity assessments and best interest decision making. The training then covers in detail the Managers\, directors and/or trustees’ responsibilities in requesting assessments from the Minister of Health and Community services for a Significant Restrictions on Liberty. A significant restriction on liberty provides the safeguards for people who lack capacity and need ongoing treatment and care.  \n\n \n
