Law at Work was established in 2004 to provide a one-stop-shop for HR support. In 2011, we expanded our services to offer health & safety support to our clients.
Our range of services ensures that as employers you get things right in your workplace and for your business, without having to employ your own HR and health & safety specialists. Our team of highly skilled and experienced advisers provide 24/7 back-up, and/or work with you on one-off projects, reducing risk and keeping you up to date with local regulations.
Sound technical knowledge underpins all LAW’s services. Our staff are qualified and experienced and our employment specialists are non-practising solicitors and barristers. LAW practices what it preaches: we train and supervise our staff to ensure high quality, up to date advice.
We are not a law firm, and none of our employees are members of the Law Society of Jersey or practising in that capacity, so we do not undertake reserved or other legal work. We are, however, a unique business support organisation, specialising in helping clients identify, manage, reduce, and eliminate risk in our field of expertise, letting you get on with yours.
Take a look at our services
Employees will always come up with something new for you to deal with. Employers are expected to be conversant with a wide range of employment situations and know how to deal with those scenarios lawfully. Whatever your employment or employee relations requirement, we can help. We keep abreast of ever-increasing employment legislation so you don’t have to.
If your business finds itself in the unfortunate position of being served with notice of a tribunal hearing against you, you need expert representation you can trust. We have been representing employers since the inception of the employment tribunals in Jersey and Guernsey.
Finding the right people with the set of skills your business requires can be time-consuming and expensive, often with little to show for it. Let our headhunters do the searching, selection, interviewing, contractual negotiations and on-boarding for you.
Health and safety is not just a legal requirement to keep your employees and customers safe, it should be a real priority for businesses that are looking for efficiencies and a good reputation in the marketplace. We can help you assess your risks, create appropriate policies to address those risks and represent your interests as your virtual H&S Officer.
Our classroom training courses can be delivered at your premises and tailored for your workplace. Covering all aspects of HR, employment law and health & safety practice, we have a number of off-the-shelf courses to choose from. Alternatively, take a look at our upcoming events to book a place on our open courses.
If you cannot release your employees for training days, our online courses provide you with a training solution that can be undertaken by employees at home, on the move or anywhere with a standard Internet connection. Take a look at all our online courses that cover both HR and health & safety topics.

What Our Clients Say
"In a constantly changing world of employment regulation and case law, Law At Work provide a cost effective service which keeps us up to date with the changes and allows us to talk through HR issues before they become HR problems. Their advice line allows us to sound out our own thought process and clarify the law when required, without the requirement of employing a full time HR professional."
"As a small company we don’t need our own HR professional, so the service from Law at Work ensures we are compliant with current employment laws and gives us the confidence to deal with HR issues in a fair and professional manner. It is very reassuring to be able to pick up the phone or email and receive prompt and appropriate advice."
"Law At Work has proved to be an invaluable service providing advice and guidance in a rapidly changing employment environment. The advice service is cost effective and the workshops informative. No busy HR Team should be without this type of support."
"Due to the nature of our business, we have a reasonably high turnover of staff as we are in the building trade… Without their [LAW’s] support, I don’t think we would have had enough knowledge of the new laws to have created our company handbooks and staff contracts."
"Since the changes (in 2005) to our Island’s Employment Laws, our employees, probably more than most, could have been troublesome – seeking to use these new laws to their own benefit… we have dealt with Law at Work since 2005, during which time… they have provided us with a level of support which exceeded expectations and has also already saved our Company unnecessary expense."
